Born from an observation of the natural process through which pearls are formed, this painting explores transformation as a response to pain. When a foreign object enters an oyster, it reacts by coating it in layers of nacre, gradually transforming it into a pearl.
The tear-shaped pearl becomes a symbol of this transformation: a reminder that what once caused us pain can, with time, become something meaningful and precious. Rather than celebrating suffering itself, the work reflects on our capacity to transform pain into growth, beauty, and strength.
